The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed defenseman Alex Goligoski to a three-year contract worth $5.5 million.
The offensive-minded defenseman will just add more firepower to a team with plenty of scoring options already.
The Penguins were one of the top offensive teams in the league this year en route to the Stanley Cup.
He spent most of last season with the AHL affiliate team and was not with the Penguins for their Stanley Cup run.

The Pittsburgh Penguins stunned the Detroit Red Wings, 2-1, in Game 7 to win the Stanley Cup.
The Penguins went up 2-0 to stun the Detroit crowd and then had to hold on for dear life in the third period.
Instead of Sidney Crosby, it was Evgeni Malkin taking home the postseason honors for the best player in the playoffs.
It marks the second professional title for the city of Pittsburgh this year after the Steelers won the Super Bowl.

The Pittsburgh Penguins used home ice to even up their series with the Detroit Red Wings and force a Game 7.
The Penguins have now won all three of their home games against the Red Wings and have been outstanding in their arena throughout the playoffs.
Game 7 will be played in Detroit, where the Red Wings are 3-0 against the Penguins in the Stanley Cup Finals.
I think that record will improve to 4-0, as the more skilled team is going to end up winning it all for the second straight years.

Just as it looked like it may be a repeat of last year’s Stanley Cup Finals, the Pittsburgh Penguins picked up a 4-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings in Game 3.
Returning to Pittsburgh and playing in front of the home fans may have fired up the Penguins.
They were much better on the offensive and defensive ends in Game 3, something that will have to continue if they want a chance to win the series.
It was actually a struggle for the first two periods, as the Red Wings dominated the game but couldn’t put the Penguins away, allowing them to climb back into it and eventually emerge victorious.
